20th C. Topics: Borges and Argentine Literature

This graduate course will focus on Borges's relations to Argentine literature: Sarmiento, poesía gauchesca, Eduardo Gutierrez, Evaristo Carriego, Lugones and others, as well as the impact of Borges on such writers as Bioy Casares, Silvina Ocampo, Saer and Piglia. Students will be involved in the symposium on the future of Borges studies on March 21-23, 2018. Two short papers, presentations and a final research paper.
