American Government and Politics

We 2:00PM - 4:25PM / 4430 Wesley W Posvar Hall / CRN 30362

This course provides an overview of the literature in American politics, with an emphasis on political representation. In this sense, the course will consider both the political behavior and political institutions literature together, outlining the theories that provide the basis for many of the theories in comparative politics and other subfields within political science. Students will be asked to explore literature on their own and to create an original research design on a topic within American politics of their choosing. Although many of the readings are quantitative in nature, no background in mathematics or statistics is required.
